Thoughts on Thursday

Have you ever met someone who is on the same path as you, but always one step ahead? Always succeeding and doing better than you?  For me in my TPT journey that person is Jessica Vicknair from Tech and Teachability. Her success, creativity, and sheer ability to get sh*t stuff done pushes me and gives me something to strive for in my TPT/blogging goals.

Jessica is launching her blog Tech and Teachability this week too, and she's got some stellar giveaways happening. Make sure to check them out!

I met Jessica two years ago when we both presented at a local educational technology conference. Since then we've become close friends and she truly inspires and pushes me to achieve bigger and better things in my professional and personal life. And it just so happened that at the time that I started talking about actually really doing this blogging thing she was ready to launch her rebranded blog as well. So we decided to plan coordinating blog launches and thus a new linky, Thoughts on Thursday, was born!

Starting in September, every first Thursday we will be sharing our thoughts on a certain topic. Jessica and I wanted this to be a chance for teachers to talk about all sorts of things, not just classroom focused topics. You'll see in our Fall topic calendar that we have a mix of topics planned. I hope y'all will join us and share your thoughts in the coming months!

So now that we've got all the logistics out the way I'm sure your curious how Thoughts on Thursday connects with my blog launch giveaways! Right...am I right!? Because y'all let's be honest teachers love free stuff! Well Jessica and I decided that our inaugural Thoughts on Thursday post would be about something that's near and dear to both of us... GoNoodle! If you keep reading you'll be able to enter to win a pretty sweet swag bag from GoNoodle!

Raise your hand if you love GoNoodle? And if you don't know what GoNoodle is, it's time to jump on the bandwagon, because it's going to change your classroom. Seriously!

Now I'm going to assume that you already know what GoNoodle is and how amazing it can be for the classroom. But just in case here's a real quick run down. GoNoodle is a free resource that helps parents and teachers get kids up and moving. Kids dance, shake, wiggle, stretch, and move to quick, engaging, and hilarious brain break videos. All you need to get started is 30 seconds to sign up and a connected device like a computer, tablet, or Apple TV. If you haven't signed up yet, do it now. Trust me, you won't regret it! Seriously your students will love GoNoodle so much they'll spend all of their Work on Writing time writing books about GoNoodle (see evidence below)!

One of the things my students love most about GoNoodle is watching the Champs (a Champ is a GoNoodle mascot for you newbies out there) grow and level up as they put in more minutes of movement. I wanted to share with you today how my students and I will be tracking what Champs we have maxed out this year! Last school year we had a Champ Hall of Fame where we posted all of the certificates that GoNoodle provided each time we maxed out a Champ. This year I'm going to add brag tags to the maxed out Champ fun!

My kids really love brag tags so it seemed only natural to reward them and celebrate their movement accomplishments. You can snag your set of FREE GoNoodle brag tags here.

Now for today's giveaway, enter the Rafflecopter below for a chance to win this fantastic GoNoodle swag prize pack! The winner will get a GoNoodle bag, t-shirt, and lanyard for themselves. You'll also win a class set of GoNoodle stickers and pencils!

  1. What are your "thoughts" (hehe) on gonoodle with big-ish kids? I can't always tell what my 4th graders will embrace, and what will be too baby for them?

    1. Lauren,

My 4th graders absolutely love Go Noodle. I have a Go Noodler class job. That student is one who signs up for Go Noodle account with their parents at home and comes in prepared to share the best Go Noodle videos with the class. Last year I had several Go Noodlers so they took turns each week leading our Go Noodle brain breaks and dance parties.
